Practice Accreditation
All practices (Training Posts) approved by QRME for GP Registrar term placements are RACGP accredited; most are ACRRM accredited.
Background
The GPET Board, at its meeting on 21 June 2002, discussed the issues surrounding the accreditation of teaching posts, and determined that the process should be managed by Consortia (Regional Training Providers - RTPs)...
...Accreditation of all teaching posts must meet the standards issued by the RACGP National Training Post Standards Committee, which were implemented from 1 January 2001, titled 'Standards Required of RACGP Teaching Posts'. In addition, RTPs may provide for registrars to pursue the FACRRM by meeting the teaching post accreditation standards issued by ACRRM in 2002, entitled 'Standards Required of ACRRM Teaching Posts and Teachers in Rural and Remote Medicine'.
...As a guide, accreditation visits are to be managed by the RTPs and conducted by authorized RACGP representatives and ACRRM representatives as required, in conjunction with RTP (Consortium) representatives."

QRME Philosophy
The educational philosophy and strategic direction of Queensland Rural Medical Education (QRME) is oriented towards rural and regional medical practice. This includes encouraging Registrars to pursue the FACRRM as well as the FRACGP. It is therefore crucial to QRME's philosophy and scope of activity that Training Posts are accredited against both the RACGP and ACRRM training post standards.
Practices interested in becoming accredited Training Posts should review the QRME Guidelines for Accreditation.
