Accreditation Guidelines
Application and Selection
In line with the direction received from GPET, QRME has implemented an accreditation framework to confirm and endorse the capacity of training posts to support our philosophy and approach as well as facilitating training post accreditation from both Colleges. QRME works collaboratively with both RACGP and ACRRM to streamline the necessary processes. The QRME Office will be the primary contact point for accreditation issues for training posts supporting our program.
In broad terms, the accreditation process involves:
- Registration of interest;
- Self assessment against identified standards;
- Review of the self assessment by QRME for preliminary endorsement as a QRME training post;
- Site visit involving QRME and College representatives;
- Evaluation and decision by QRME; and
- Referral of evaluation outcome to Colleges for confirmation of accreditation.
The process is intended to readily enable Training Posts to hold dual accreditation, thus providing the opportunity for registrars to gain vocational registration and attain the fellowships of RACGP and ACRRM.
The accreditation process is not expected to be onerous for most training posts, particularly where there is current General Practice accreditation through AGPAL or GPAC.
